KEVIN AYERS - Professional guide & manager of Ponderosa Outfitters

I was born and raised on the Front Range of Colorado in the small farming town of Eaton. Growing up in a hunting oriented family, we spent most of our time hunting geese, ducks, and big game animals. My father started Ponderosa Outfitters over 25 year’s ago in the North Park region of Colorado He guided hunts primarily for deer, elk, and antelope. I started my guiding career at 18 years of age, guiding clients from all over the U.S. on trophy big game hunts. This opportunity has given me the chance to find my true passion of guiding waterfowl hunts along the Front Range. It has only been in the last 6 years that we started the waterfowl operations here in Northern Colorado. In the last 3 years, we have expanded our operations to Kansas to chase snow geese during the spring conservation season.

My passion has become a reality and has come full circle, as I have been given the opportunity to give back what I was given as a young boy to watch a first time hunter kill their first bird. There is nothing like seeing the smiles on the faces of clients, as you call in the first flock of the day, and yell out the words “Kill Em Boys”! I am truly grateful to have been blessed with a beautiful wife and two wonderful daughters who fully help and support my career choices in life.

BRUCE AYERS -

My wife, Cindy, and I have been most fortunate to be able to raise a family of three boys while enjoying the great outdoor opportunities available to all sportsmen here in Colorado. We are very proud that they have become good outdoorsmen and are now passing the thrill of the hunt on to their children.  I’ve  been a lifelong hunter starting with upland birds and small game in the farmlands of Kansas.  After pursuing my education in wildlife management, I followed a lifelong dream and moved to the Colorado  in 1973.   The high country of the Rockies beckoned me to its most remote areas and the romance of big game hunting only added to my passion for hunting and the outdoors.  In the 1980’s we started our outdoor services to share our love of wild places with others.  We managed  hunting and fishing cabins in the North Park region for many years, and in 1992 we obtained our Colorado Outfitters License #1260.  Since then we have provided guided hunts for deer, elk, antelope, and moose for clients from over 30 states and several foreign countries. 

Over the last  few years we have greatly expanded our operation to take advantage of the bountiful waterfowl hunting  here in Northern Colorado as well as turkey, snow goose, and whitetail hunts in Kansas.  My son, Kevin, manages our waterfowl operation and has put together one of the premier services in the state.  Our strategic property locations, quality equipment, comfortable facilities, and experienced guides are in place to insure a successful, family-oriented experience.

Our lives have evolved around the outdoors. We are long-standing, proactive members of numerous conservation and wildlife groups including  the Colorado Outfitters Association, Ducks Unlimited,  the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Colorado Bowhunters Association, the National Rifle Association, Safari International,  and the National Wild Turkey Federation.  We firmly believe these groups are essential to the continued well-being of our sport and for the opportunity of future generations to enjoy it as we have.
